This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who has successfully delivered Cisco Secure Access/SSE migrations in live environments, understands the challenges of transitioning legacy firewall estates, and can work collaboratively with multiple delivery partners to ensure a seamless migration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and migration of Cisco Secure Service Edge (SSE) solutions within a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Design, configure and deploy Cisco Secure Access policies, security controls and connectivity solutions.
- Translate complex legacy firewall rule sets, ACLs and NAT policies into SSE security policies while ensuring continuity of business services.
- Support the migration of existing Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Firepower Management Center (FMC) environments to Cisco SSE platforms.
- Analyse, rationalise and optimise large rule bases consisting of 200+ access control and NAT rules.
- Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, routing and security-related issues throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with network, cloud, security and infrastructure teams to deliver migration objectives.
- Support hybrid network connectivity across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Participate in planning, testing, cutover activities and post-implementation support for production deployments.
- Ensure all solutions align with security, operational and governance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, documentation and knowledge transfer to operational teams.
Cisco Security
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Secure Service Edge (SSE) / Cisco Secure Access.
- Proven experience delivering live SSE migration projects rather than solely greenfield deployments.
- Experience migrating from Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Firepower Management Center (FMC) environments.
- Strong understanding of network security architecture, security policy design and Zero Trust principles.
- Experience managing and converting complex ACL and NAT rule sets into SSE policies.
- Strong knowledge of:
- BGP Routing
- VPN Technologies
- Network Segmentation
- Traffic Engineering
- Route Analysis and Troubleshooting
- Experience supporting hybrid connectivity across:
- Azure ExpressRoute
- AWS Direct Connect
- Site-to-Site VPN Gateways
- Cloud Route Tables
- Experience implementing and supporting SD-WAN solutions.
- Hands-on experience with VMware VeloCloud or equivalent technologies.
- Strong understanding of branch and remote-site connectivity architectures.
- Experience working within enterprise cloud environments including Azure and AWS.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex connectivity issues spanning cloud, security and network domains.
- Experience working within large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments.
